Waves and Rocks in Motions

"Encaustic" is derived from the Greek word: enkaiein – to burn into. Wax is an excellent preservative of materials. It was partly from this use that the art of encaustic painting developed. Encaustic art dates back almost 3000 years to Egyptian & Greek times when heated colored waxes were used to decorate warships and the walls of tombs. This abstract painting described the waves and rocks in the ocean using melted wax. It is framed with white mat and a gold wood frame. The completed measurement is about 11” x 13.
