This en plein air piece was done while sitting on a log bench at the end of beautiful Lake O’Hara, in Yoho National Park, one fine summer day. The morning sun was slanting in over the mountains to the east and lighting the slopes nicely. Hikers making their way around the lake stopped to visit while I painted. As the sun rose higher, and the shadows rapidly disappeared I had to stop painting and packed it home to finish later in the studio. This 11x14x0.75 inch canvas is already framed in a black front loaded frame.
