This en plein air 8x10 inch piece is done on canvas covered board. Painting en plein air is far more of a challenge than sitting comfortably in one's studio. Outside one contends with many issues: the light will change as you paint, the sun moves across the sky, clouds change the shadows, the mosquitoes and black flies come to visit and make their presence known, some even end up in the painting. If it's too hot the acrylic paint will dry too fast. If it's too cold, you need to be dressed for the elements, or paint really fast. If the wind comes up, things become even more challenging as your canvas is buffeted around. All in all, painting outside in an area as beautiful as lake O'Hara in Yoho National Park, makes up for all these dilemmas, and more. To sit, albeit on a hard rock, at the side of the lake, surrounded by nature and such a grand vista really is heaven.


Place the piece on a stand of your choice. It sits beautifully on a desk or shelf, or it can be framed. Stand is not included.
